For a full 52 days, Valkenburg transforms into a unique magical Christmas experience. As soon as you enter the historic town, you are immersed in the wonderful Christmas atmosphere. The Wilhelmina Tower, as the proud largest Christmas tree in Limburg, flaunts above the richly decorated streets. Here you will find Santa's Village, the traditional manger walks and high-profile street theater in several places. The performances vary from street musicians to Professor Dr. Falckenstein, who, with his MagiCalibrator is making the streets of Valkenburg unsafe. Plenty of entertainment for everyone!
The Route d'Amuse provides a nice city walk along various participating restaurants. Twice a week we will be snuggled up in hats and scarves along the route of the enchanting Light Procession through the streets. You don't want to miss that!
Classical music lovers invariably have the Advent Concert on their calendars. And the Kapellmeister ensemble brings German baroque music to the audience in a historic and refreshing way in the St. Gerlachus Church in Houthem.
The highlight for the many visitors are of course the Christmas markets in the unique centuries-old cave passages. In the Velvet Cave and Municipal Cave you can imagine yourself in a Dickenson era among the nativity scenes and atmospherically decorated corridors. Mergelrijk also has extraordinary sand sculptures.
On your way to the caves, stop by Hotel 1711 for a delicious take-away or settle in for a bite to eat.
